Small Group Pilates Fitness Classes

  • Are you looking for a class where you are not just another number or worried you will get lost or left behind in an intimidating group of 20+ people?

Then You Are In the Right Place!

  • Our group classes are designed to be kept to a small community of no more than 6-8 individuals of similar ability and are only taught by Pilates experts.
  • You can be certain you will get the necessary attention, modifications and progressions to safely maximize the benefits of your practice. We use the foundational Pilates exercises and incorporate the use or props, springs, and your own body resistance to target and tap into your deepest muscles, create strength and mobility together and enhance your core and back performance.
  • The design of every class is built on our methods and expert knowledge of the body, so you can expect to practice movement patterns that will teach you more about your body, will protect and prevent you from injury and any imbalances and compensations that need to be addressed. 
  • Our specialty classes are designed for individuals with specific; pain limitations, injury rehab focus (like back pain, Parkinson's, osteoporosis, balance and falls) and activity performance(i.e. golf, tennis, cycling, ski, running, etc.).

Power and Posture Class

  • This class is designed to build up your muscles and joint strength, keep your spine stable and flexible and stop or reverse poor posture that makes you move and look “old.”
  • This class focuses on strength, stability, balance and posture. By performing mat, standing and functional Pilates body weight exercise methods you will create a strong stable foundation and will correct the imbalances and compensations that lead to pain and injury.
  • This class is great for all levels and people who want keep strong, mobile and correct any compensations, weak links, poor posture or balance difficulties.
Cardio Sculpt Class

Release and Restore Class

“The Miracle Movement Massage”

  • This class is a powerful combination of muscle-fascia release movements, self-massage methods, the best stretches and strengthening exercises to stabilize, repair, and restore your body.
  • This specialty class will keep you active, decrease muscle soreness, improve how you move, speed up recovery and free you from the aches, pain and stiffness that worry and slow you down.
  • You will leave this class feeling refreshed and your body will be smiling from the inside out!

Class Levels:

Level 1: Beginners

  • This class level is perfect for all fitness abilities, ages and is easily adaptable for newer students, people with specific health needs and focuses on overall body awareness and balance.
  • Special focus is on form, alignment and understanding the Pilates fundamentals for a solid foundation you can build from and then enter into any class safely.

*All ages, stages and fitness levels welcomed.

Level 2: Intermediate

  • The class flow is more moderate, with seamless transitions, balance and stability challenges and full-body integrated coordinated movements are introduced and progressed to give you a more challenging workout experience.

*Level 1 experience or Instructor Clearance required for participation.

Level 3: Advanced

  • You will enjoy a more moderate-fast paced class where the transitions are quicker, the recovery sequences more active, for an even more dynamic flow of intermediate-advanced exercises and integration of Pilates props and equipment.

  • This special Intro Series of 3 Private Sessions involves a thorough wellness and fitness history review, postural analysis, fitness and movement assessment, you will learn about present imbalances, compensation, limitations and if you are at risk for injury if the compensations or imbalances are not corrected.
  • You will build a solid foundation in the Pilates concepts and key basics and by working privately with a Pilates Instructor.

Dr. Yvonne Castillo is one of Santa Barbara’s leading Movement Specialists who helps active adults become more active, fit and independent so they can confidently live the life they love without fear, limitation and having to depend on painkillers or procedures.

Every day people consult Yvonne looking for the guidance to get them back to their active lifestyles faster and permanently. She helps them understand and address their current performance limitations, individual risk factors and weak links, prevent injury, avoid loss of mobility, flexibility, strength, stability and balance, avoid surgery and protect against falls, slow decline  of their independence or the steady increase in aches, pains, stiffness, loss of energy or confidence in their ability to be active like they truly desire to be..

Yvonne founded Perseverance Movement Specialists and Pilates in order to deliver to the Santa Barbara community effective and natural ways to  improve their health, fitness, mobility and independence now and for their years to come.

She did not want clients to be sidelined in life waiting for answers, improvements and ultimately become a boomerang of repetitive aches, pains, falls, injuries or surgeries. 

She believes in serving the client as a person first, accountable to them, their families and support network.

She has continually been a resource for individuals struggling to achieve their health and fitness goals, and persons committed to a lifestyle and lifetime of health and fitness. 

She believes in the importance of an integrative and holistic whole-body approach to achieve every individual’s optimal health and wellness goals and aspirations.

Yvonne graduated in 2007 with a BA from UC Berkeley and earned her Masters and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from UC San Francisco and San Francisco State University in 2011. As a Santa Barbara Native invested in the community she completed her clinical preceptorships in Santa Barbara to become invested in the healthcare systems at SB Cottage, Cottage Rehabilitation Center and local outpatient orthopedic clinics. 

She is Certified Pilates Instructor and trained with BASI Master Instructors through the BASI Comprehensive Pilates Instructor Training Program in 2008, Spine Corrector Certified through the Ron Fletcher Program of Study, and additionally taught barre Pilates.
